For instance a community worker assisting people in the development of job skills may work with them to convey when email communications are beneficial and when they are not. The community worker may also attempt to convey the importance of reading body language and discerning the tone of a conversation. Overall the community worker must ensure that personal development involves the development of good communications skills if the individual is to succeed in the workplace.

In this instance, community workers must work to ensure that students are able to spell and use proper grammar without depending on software programs. Workers must also emphasize oral communication and the importance of proper diction and the use of complete sentences when speaking.
